Quick subtitle syncing...
« on: December 03, 2011, 09:13:01 am »

I miss a syncing feature for subtitles... Now I have to use first potplayer or mpc-hc to have been able to sync subtitles... So, I make a feature request about some quick sync function... Maybe a button shortcut for +/- 500ms shift? If that is too much trouble, bury this, but if itīs possible to do fast or easy, I would like to have that kind of feature:)

A syncing feature for subtitles is IMO absolutely essential!

Btw, is there a way to use DirectVobSub (which does have this feature) instead of MC's built in subtitle feature? I tried RO + additional filters (both HQ and standard) and added DirectVobSub to filters, but it doesn't seem to load. Also tried to use Haali splitter in case DirectVobSub isn't compatible with LAV splitter, but I can't get Haali to load either, it's just ignored if I select it as splitter.

I could be wrong, but I think you have to go back to Windows Merit mode to get Haali to load.

I'm doing a bunch of maintenance on my files right now, and I actually have my whole video library pretty much offline, so I can't test it.  If I'm not crazy though, using Haali would pretty much defeat the point of all of Red October, so there'd be little point in using it with RO.

bumb...

Can I have a comment if this is even possible with madVR? If it is, I cannot see any reason why it isnīt already in MC... I think syncing is really important for many foreign people, and specially those who are "small" country. I watch a lot of Korean and Asian films, but we do not have them with finnish subtitles, so I have to download subs from internet (if there is any...) and hope they sync with my media (or I have to switch to mpc-hc and sync with it and then switch to MC...). So, if this syncing feature is possible, could you put it in your to-do-list, because it is very important for some people...

There is no sync option currently, but it would not be hard to add.

Could you describe what the ideal implementation would look like?

Thanks.

Ideal for me is something like that:

So, basically add some buttons to the display view and inform with osd how much the subs has been synced... Ideal steps would be 500ms... And I would appreciate if you could add save-function for the synced subtitles so I donīt need to sync them again, and maybe some fps-conversion (25->23.976 etc.). Those functions donīt need to be visible in display view, but maybe in the right click menu?

In a coming build:
NEW: Added 'Timing' to subtitle right-click menu to allow adjusting when subtitles appear (changes saved per-file and applied on subsequent playback as well).
