Something went wrong with playback
« on: February 26, 2012, 04:26:45 pm »

I just did a clean reinstall on my HTPC.  I bought a new SSD for the OS drive and reinstalled everything from scratch.  It all looks great now except for this one thing.  Videos wont play, I just get a very vague and unhelpful message that "something went wrong with playback."

All my media is streamed from my server, so nothing is on the hard drive of the HTPC.

I can tell you this much:
Music works just fine
If I open a video file by navigating to the actual file location through the network I can play it, but for some reason it wont go full screen like it used to.

Therefore I don't think it's a connection problem or a codec issue, but I could be wront.  To be safe I installed CCCP but that didn't help
I'm using the latest build of MC.  Any ideas?

Are you using Red October?
I'm assuming that you were running MC17 before reinstalling, so...
Do you have a library back up that's up to date?
You could try restoring it, including your old settings.

Are you running 17.0.95?  I cannot play video with my HTPC client with this version.  17.0.91 works for me, try that.

Rolling back to 17.0.91 fixed it

There will probably be a fix for this soon.
