Transcode is good, remuxing is better
« on: February 29, 2012, 12:22:21 pm »

I have a PS3, I have Media Center, but I still use PS3 Media Server to stream files from my PC to my PS3, I don't even tried to use Media Center because it only does transcoding, would it be possible with Media Center to remux instead of transcode ? The PS3 decode AVC but do not handle MKV, so it's better to keep the same AVC and to put in an MKV that PS3 handle like does PS3 Media Server.
The goal here is to get rid of PS3 Media Server and use only Media Center.

Ah, 'transmux' is the name of a piece of commercial software for generating mpeg streams.
