Genre Won't Save
« on: May 08, 2002, 06:51:37 am »

When I change the "genre" property of a song, it does not stay saved.  This is true when I change it to, say, "80s".  In the properties box, I have "create ID3v2 tags if they don't exist" checked, and in Settings=>Options I have all 3 boxes checked in File Tag Options.  Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?  My version is 7.2.280.  Thanks!

how do you know it is not saving the id3 tag?

is it the list that does not say like you want it or the tag?

you may need to use an external tagger to check the id3v1 and id3v2 tags

When you go back and check the tag on the 80's ones, does it say Folk?  I had that same problem, and KingSparta explained to me that it was that in the Genre database 80 corresponds to Folk.  I had to rename all the "80's" genre's to "Eighties" so that it would work.

I've found it's best to begin all genre names with a letter, not a digit.

i don't remember what 80 is but

per the id3.org web site you should be able to use something like

(80)(20)(12)

for multible genre's of course the software needs to support that.

Another popular workaround is to set all files to "Booty Bass".

Matt's slide show plug-in should be very cool with Porn Groove songs.
