Hanging with ripping
« on: May 08, 2002, 02:32:17 am »

I uyse Betaversion 8.0.265. When ripping from CD to APE -format, The computer hangs after encoding.
This is only with bad cd's. He rips, normalize and completed encoding. The ape-format is written to
disk, but not imported in library, because i have to break the program. The problem probably occurs
when he generate the log-file. I suppose the logfile has too much entries? What's the problem?

I don't think it's a database size issue, since there a databases out there with close to 100,000 entries. Possibly a corrupt database, since the error seems to occur when the database import is done.
First, eliminate the possibility of an encoding problem by using "uncompressed wave" and see if that works. Try ripping just one track. Which copy mode are you using? Also, please list your system information (Help/System info in MJ).

Thanks,

I use digital secure-method. The problem is not the database or encoding. The file is encoded good, also present on the disk, but when after ripping, there is a log file displayed. Here the computer hangs, when the cd is bad quality and al lot of retries has to be done, either with wave-format. I have to close mj, so the file is not imported in the database, there this apperently is done after displaying the logfile. The encoded file is also good. Therefore, I assume there is a problem with displaying/creating the logfile when a lot of entries are there.
No matter if you have one or more tracks. I have AMD XP1800, using Windows XP, 526Mb, SB player 1024; yamaha 20/10/40 cdwr. I hope you have more information now. Thanks
