No Volume control when using Dolby Digital output?
« on: March 19, 2012, 07:42:47 pm »

Suddenly I lost the ability to control my volume within MC.

For all my zones (3 physically different outputs) I use "System Volume" to control the volume. For my digital output suddenly neither "Application Volume" nor "System Volume" worked, but "Internal Volume" did. It didn't have any effect which output mode I chose.

The reason I found in DSP Studio. In Output Format I chose to "Output surround sound as Dolby Digital". Disabling this option re-enables my volume control.

Is this as expected or is it a bug? I haven't had this behavior a week or two ago although I alway had "Output surround sound as Dolby Digital" enabled.

If you bitstream (Dolby Digital is bitstreaming), system volume won't work.

Internal Volume will work.  More here:

Hm, ok thanks.

So it must be wrong when I state that System Volume worked a week (or so) ago with "Output surround sound as Dolby Digital" enabled?!
