Multiple track selection using 'shift' not working

I have MC on 3 machines at home.  I just installed my 3rd a few days ago.

When I went to try to highlight multiple tracks using the 'shift' key for the first time on the 3rd machine it didn't work.  This only happens on this new machine and I can't figure out why. 

Any thoughts? ?
