What is the full version?  MC17.0.117 is at the top of the MC17 board.

What you posted is a snap-shot of what DirectShow filters that are related to TV you have.  From it I see that you have a Duel tuner NOVA-DT device.  The device path of the first tuner, i.e. the following line, looks a little suspicious:

Code: [Select]
@device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_2040&pid_9951&mi_00#7&287a3ec4&0&0000#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}
It should look like this:

Code: [Select]
@device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_2040&pid_9951&mi_00#7&287a3ec4&0&0000#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\nova-dt dvb-t tuner (dev1 path0)

It may be just caused by you editing the text when you posted.  If that was not caused by your accidental editing, and was really the way it was, then it may be the problem.  It could be caused by corruption in the device driver.  You can try reinstalling the driver.  Another thing you can try is to select the second tuner to use during scan.

If you still have problems, a full log may help.  You can email the full log to me.  yaobing at jriver dot com

Details of getting logs are described in this thread.

hi there
I've tried selecting the second tuner to the same result, I'll email the logs a little later for your review.

hi there
have you had a chance to review the emailed logs?
This may be a simple question based on my ignorance, but if the tv tuner works in say windows media center, why would it not work in jriver.

TV Cards are a little finicky in how they operate, so if you have 7MC (or Mediaportal or other DVB application) installed they may 'take over' the tuner. For example, I had loads of bother with Mediaportal, because it runs the TV Server application immediately on Windows Login which 'took over' the card and it wouldn't work right in JRiver MC if it was installed. So even if you're not running MP or 7MC at the time, they still have a TV server application running in the background.

I haven't had 7MC running at all in my setup, so it wouldn't even know I had a TV Card. And after my clean install I haven't gone anywhere near MP (caused me lots of bother).

Maybe this is the trouble, that 7MC is 'hogging' the card for you. I believe other users have used the Nova DT successfully.

SBR's guess is a good one.

Your log shows that MC failed to build a DirectShow graph using DVB-T Network Provider and proceeded to building one with Generic Network Provider which failed to run.  Not long ago another user with Nova-DT DVB-T tuner had trouble using it in MC.  I found out that it needed to use DVB-T Network Provider.  Therefore the fact that your tuner failed with DVB-T specific Network Provider indicates that maybe there is something wrong with your device - either it is not available as SBR guessed because another program is hogging it, or the device driver is corrupt.

Do you know if Windows Media Center actually successfully use both of your tuners?

Yes, that clears the air.

When you tried it in MC, Windows Media Center was not using either of the tuners right?

Driver reinstallation probably is a good thing to try.

Everytime i use mc17 i shut 7mc down as having both open affects the way the remote behaves in theater view in mc17 ie back/skip buttons.

Meanwhile, back at the farm, reinstalled drivers from a new download from hauppage website but still same effect, mc17 sits and attempts scan then just returns to the tv blank page.

Is there any other steps other than a fresh install?

Try shutting down two of the services associated with WMC.  Go to Computer on your Desktop and right click.  Select Manage (takes a few seconds to start) then select Services and Applications then Services.  Scroll down until you find two Media Center ones - Windows Media Center Receiver Service and Windows Media Center Scheduler Service.  Right click and stop each service.  Right click and select properties then, from the drop down list against Startup Type, choose Disabled.

hi there
thanks for the advice, tried shutting these services down, but to no avail, still no completed tv scan.

Further, i reformatted my drive, installed win 7, installed jriver and then on scan still the same problem, bear in mind i didn't open or setup mc7.

I borrowed friends hauppage usb t stick dual tuner, all installed ok, jriver acknowledges this hardware in the tv scan page drop down list, but again no completed scan.

Both units work fine in regards to scanning channels, guide and recording on both receivers in the now mc7.

Im gutted as i love 90% of what jriver offers in terms of ease of use and more importantly the quality it brings to my media, but as i use my htpc 24 7 in the family lounge the kids demand their tv ;D

jriver constantly takes a back seat to win mc7 and media browser, yes quality loss but 100% stability and usability.

I know people are going to harp on about 'other people use this hardware/software fine' in my mind that is possibly the most annoying thing to hear in this situation.

The hardware works fine, the drivers work fine win mc7 proves this, jrivers interpretation of software to hardware is failing this.

Im not a computer programmer so other than install driver and software im lost and in need of help.

It looks as though others are also having problems with these Nova-DT tuners.  Have a look at this thread:

I am sure Yaobing will sort it out.

Since you have the same problem with the same device, let's move the discussion to that thread.

I am locking this one.
