Stability problem
« on: April 12, 2012, 06:56:52 am »

I'm long time user of MC, and I find it great.
However I have problems since MC17. I find it unstable, despite all updates, mine is bugging at least once a days (sometime 5 times a day). Either it crashes, or get in non-responding mode.
I don't know if it is due to my database which has gone thru 10 years of update, its size (over 50k items)  or something else, but I find it very disappointing.

Please try the link called "Stability" in the wiki:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Stability

Make sure you have the latest build.  It's MC17.0.122.

The size of the database isn't the problem.   We have users who have 500,000 files.

Seems part of my message was lost, here are more details

On the top of the crashes, I'm also facing 3 other issues:
1/ Since I'm on windows 7, I'm using a lot the link zone to play both thru Optical output and Analog output, both are connected to  amplifiers in 2 different rooms. I find it impossible to synchronize the output, It almost ok at the beginning, but there is a greater and greater delay as times goes (over a second after 1 or 2 hour)

2/ with Link again.  If I decide to modify the playlist, the modification is not “linked” , only one zone is modified, despite the fact the link stay on .

3/ Podcast.  I’ve noticed since a few months (since MC17 update? I’m not sure) most of my podcast are downloaded up to 5 times. I don’t see any reason why.

If you can help sorted out this, or give me indication how I can convert my database back to MC 16.
Regards

Phil

Does it only hang / crash if you link zones?

I'm with 2 zones linked almost permanetly, and crash or hang occurs without visible pattern.
Sometimes after 1 or 2  hour of playing a list,  sometimes when I try to add items during a playback, Sometimes after 1, 2 or more hours of playing a web radio.

I going to try without the linking to see if I got less crashes or hangs
