Client won't play videos
« on: April 20, 2012, 01:28:43 pm »

I have a server set up and one client.  I'm in testing phase (MC noob).  It was working.  Server is running 17.0.125 and the client is running 17.0.129.

When I try to play a video on the client it tries to play it on the server.  Tools->Options->Media Network->Client Options is set to Play Local file if one matches Library Server File is found.

The files are located on a nas, and both systems have access.  The only change I have made is on the server (IIRC) - Tools->Options->Startup->Windows Startup->set to Media Server.

How do I get back to the files playing on the client?

BTW - Problem occurs with various video files (avi, m2ts, iso)

Play to the 'Here' zone, not the 'There' zone (zones are listed under Playing Now, and in the Player menu).

You can also disable allowing control of the server's zones on the client in Options > Media Network.

When you have a remote library running on a client, be careful where you click in Playing Now.  MC can play on the client or the server, depending on which playback destination was last selected.

You may be able to use two different builds on client and server, but it is a little risky.

I have it working now.  Is there a way to remove "There" from the Theater view?
