Slow Loading Time for Video (Client/Server)
« on: May 04, 2012, 11:36:50 am »

Hello,

I was wondering what kind of video loading times people are typically experiencing when using MC17 in a client/server setup.  Right now I have a Windows 7 box (i5-750 @3.6GHz) acting as a server for my HTPC (AMD Fusion).  I use a wired gigabit ethernet connection.  It typically takes the HTPC about 10-15 seconds to load a video, regardless of bitrate (I use mostly x264 720P mkvs).  I use RedOctober Standard.

Videos load instantly when using XBMC and accessing the videos through a shared drive.

I much prefer JRiver to XBMC for audio, but for video, the lag is a bit of a deal breaker.  Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

Is this only when you start playback from Theater View?

If so, could you test Standard View?

If not, could you post a log showing video playback starting slowly (Help > Logging)?

Thanks.
