That's because Theater View is special.

You can disable the special handling in Theater View.  Search options for 'special'.

The option is already disabled. Still no prompt.

OK. I've ditched trying to get the autoplay prompt to appear in theater view. It just doesn't work. I've decided this is ok though as it makes sense for MC to autoplay when a disc is inserted. I have now enabled the "allow special handling on media insertion" option (although I have no idea what this does) and I've also explicitely disabled the auto play options under options > cd / dvd /Blu-ray.  This seems to work and also plays my ISO's too.

But there's a problem....

If you accidently leave a disk in the drive, reboot the PC and allow MC to autostart, it will automatically play the disc. This scared the living daylights out of me the first time (amp was set to "offend"). Doesn't seem to be a problem when resuming from standby. Could this be fixed please? It doesn't make sense that MC should autoplay the disc after a reboot.

Thanks.

Did you try disabling Windows autoplay settings?

Are you using a reader like AnyDVD or DVDFab Passkey?

I use DVDFab Passkey, and each reboot the Windows autorun appears for the disc.  In other words, DVDFab is presenting the disc as new.

Media Center just follows along.

We might be able to add a workaround, but in this case I think the bug is with DVDFab.

I use AnyDVD and the same thing happens to me. On bootup, if I have a disc in the drive JRiver will react according to my AutoPlay settings even though only Media Server is set to run on startup.

Maybe there should be a setting to only AutoPlay if Media Center is already running, but that doesn't help those that have Media Center run on startup.

We could ignore disc insert if GetTickCount returns less than 30 seconds.

However, it might be the type of thing that could lead to problem reports on the other side like "why isn't my disc playing."

Yeah using AnyDVD so that's probably the cause. GetTickCount could work (as an option perhaps?).

Alternatively, if the autoplay prompt worked in Theater View, the issue wouldn't be a big deal at all  ;)
