Purchase of Beta version

If I use the 'buy media jukebox' from the help menu in beta 8,
is this a version 8 licence that will work in a future version 9 release
or do I get a version 7.2 licence ?

It's a version 8.0 license.  There is no definite plan on what will happen next.
