Hi

I just got my Sony Xperia P and Gizmo isn't working correctly.


My icons for Audio, Video, Images and playlist are all gone. I have a black page instead on of the icons.
I can guess where they are and press and eventually it will start an play something but as i can't see anything i don't have any control over it.

If i press command i'm presented with all the commands if i press home i just get back my black screen.
When it's streaming i have akbum cover and all the play commands. The registration part with access code is also working.

Anyone having any ideas?

Xperia P is running Android 2.3 at the moment.

Latest version of gizmo on market and JRiver V17.0.147

Are they missing on WebGizmo too?
I wonder if your artwork folder is missing or being overridden by some theme?

Look in Program Files->J River->Media Center 17->Data->Default Art
and
Program Files->J River->Media Center 17->Data->Custom Art

Gizmo works on my tablet (ASUS Transformer Prime) and also on my old phone (HTC Legend) perfectly.

Webgizmo works on the Xperia P and I can see the icons in the menus.

I can see the web icons in one of the folder you mentioned.
Program Files->J River->Media Center 17->Data->Default Art

the other folder "Custom Art" is missing thou.

That sound just like what I'd expect. I've run Gizmo on 2.3.6 on a Nexus S and it was fine. I'm not sure what else you can try, they are just png's. Is there some sort of special skin on your Xperia? Perhaps remove and reinstall Gizmo? Just had another thought, how about settings for the phones theme? Transparency or something related?

There really isn't that much to change when it comes to themes or background images on the Xperia P. But I did try with another launcher but i got the same result as stock launcher.

I also downloaded a few png's just to make sure that the phone actually could view PNG files and that worked out just fine.

 I also tried the bubble upnp app and when i use the media center as server there i get the different images. don't know if it really loads the gizmo pictures but they look the same.

A reinstallation of Gizmo did not solve the problem and i'm out of ideas.

I'm back, but I'm stumped.  Does flipping the screen while on a black browse page make any difference?

Gizmo should look just like WebGizmo.

If you keep clicking to get something to play, does the list of files (which uses a different text-based list style) appear?

Has anyone else seen this?

Hi Matt

Flipping the screen does nothing to improve the visibillity. I only get a change on the screen when the selection has been made and then I get the cover of the audio track and the play controls or in case of video the controls and the little loading icon until the video starts.

So in short i can see the first loading screen when it initiates the connection with the server, The streaming window and when pressing the menu button on the phone i get the two buttons commands and home up. if I press the command button i see all the options play, previous, next etc. If i press on the house icon i also get the list of renderers that's available.
It's the browsing/selection part that goes blank.

I posted this on the devices forum first and there is one more that has a Xperia P with the same problem so it's related to that phone.

As mentioned above i have a several android devices and i haven't seen this problem before with gizmo.
