i have one pc set up as a server and my laptop as a client.  I connect the laptop to my tv via hdmi.  I have video just fine but no audio, it played through the laptop speakers.  i went in and changed hdmi as the default for audio under control panel on the laptop.  i now have no audio, laptop or tv..

I have the same question.  HDMI connected directly to TV.  I select HDMI Samsung in device playback options, doesn't work, no sound.  Have tried every setting.

Try Control Panel/Sounds and test from there to see what you get.

Then set the audio device in MC under Audio.

i am able to successfully test the sound and hear audio on my tv using the windows audio device window.  I've looked at the properties under the hdmi and appears to be same as what jrm is using.  the only thing i can think is something to do with hdcp not being supported.  I should have added i'm trying to watch movies.

for some reason now no matter what settings i choose including playing around with dsp it just says there was a problem and doesn't play at all.
