can't connect to media server.
« on: May 01, 2002, 07:21:39 am »

I am having trouble connecting to server from work.  When I try to connect server reconizes the connection request and this is what I get:
05/01/02 09:16:37 - sharer starting
05/01/02 09:16:37 - Initializing server.
05/01/02 09:16:38 - Server initialized
05/01/02 09:16:38 - sharer ready to accept connections
05/01/02 09:16:53 - received a connection
05/01/02 09:16:53 - private sharing thread started
05/01/02 09:16:53 - sharing thread exiting
05/01/02 09:16:54 - received a connection
05/01/02 09:16:54 - private sharing thread started
05/01/02 09:16:54 - request for library

It comes up with the downloading screen at work and it says "connecting" and just sits there.  The program stops responding and I have to end task it.

When I do that the server reconizes the connection has closed and says:
tcp_write failed error=10054
sharing thread exiting

I am using port 80 and was able to connect using Music01.  Since the change though I have been unable to connect.

What version of MJ?

You need to run the same version on both machines.  Be sure you aren't running the M01 server also.  It may be starting automatically.

I'm running 8.0.263 on both sides.  Music01 is not running, I don't know how it could be since it was discontinued.

The M01 Server may still be running.  Our side still runs but severely limits the titles that can be seen.

Another possibility is a firewall or another application using the port.

Try connecting locally back to the same PC.

If you want me to test the connection, email the address to jimh @ jriver.com.
