Multi-monitor setup (on the desk), how do you use them ?
« on: June 20, 2012, 12:26:09 pm »

Hello fellow users !

I have 3 24" monitors on my main desktop rig.
I am just starting to play with split views, but I am really interested in finding how more experienced users put 2 or more monitors on their desk to good use in MC.
Please, share !

Thank you,

Rudy

I have a 3 monitor setup also, well actually 2 monitors and a TV.
My typical layout is browser or some other program on the left monitor, MC standard view on right monitor and MC display (detached) on the TV.
Occasionally I will have MC spanned across the 2 monitors when I am tagging or doing something where I want to see many tag fields at once.

I have a couple monitors too.  ;)

But seriously, every computer I use regularly has at least two monitors, and my main editing workstation at the office has three (like Scolex, two monitors and a HDTV).  My laptop even has dedicated ports on both my home setup and my work setup, so even it has "two" monitors whenever I'm at one of those two spots.

I haven't moved my server downstairs to a triple-display setup yet, but I'm planning to as soon as I can scrape together enough money for a good 1920x1200 24" IPS panel that'll match my two others.  Down there, right now, I have four monitors total (the two 24s I mentioned, and two older 4x3 Dell LCDs mounted to the wall that I use hooked up to "auxiliary" devices like my firewall and whatnot).

FYI:  These are very, very nice.  I have three of them now.

I can go into detail on how I use them if you ask for specifics.

2 x 24" Dell Ultrasharp here.

Setup is simply extended desktop, I use Actual Window Manager for more advanced features like window placement, an extra taskbar etc. I typically "work" on the left monitor and have other less used windows on the right one.

When I play games I play on the left monitor and have a browser and other stuff on the right one so I can still multitask.

The right monitor also has Rainmeter setup with  RSS feeds, weather info and some most used shortcuts.
