Home Automation - how to know if..
« on: July 13, 2012, 09:03:29 am »

It would be great if there was a way for my home automation system to "know" if MediaCenter is actually in PLAY mode or not (not stopped and not paused).  For some events around the house (doorbell, phone ring...) I just send a MC_discrete_pause, which pauses the music if it was playing.  But it would have been great to know if it really was playing, so I could automatically restart it.

My system can check if a process is running, read files, accept socket connections, check dry contacts, check for voltages ...

but any ideas on knowing if MC is in PLAY mode or not (actually playing a track).

The PlayingNow and WritePlaying plugin's are close... but they don't differentiate between playing and paused.

Any ideas?
