DTS FLAC files - only playable as stereo
« on: July 14, 2012, 07:59:04 am »

I have JRiver running on a PC outputting to receiver via HDMI. I have no problems playing any and all multichannel files with the exception of some DTS Flac albums (ie: Billy Joel - The Stranger).
JRiver stops dead with these files and tells me it can only play them as 96/24 stereo.
I've tried various settings - at the moment channels=source, Wasapi - Event Style, no change to sampling rates. Speakers set to 5.1 in Win 7.
When i play these from Foobar however the file is identified as 2 channel - but is decoded as 5.1 by the receiver and plays just fine.

Welcome.

If you use hardware exclusive output (like WASAPI), you need to output in a format your audio hardware supports (in non-exclusive modes, the OS will convert for you).

So just set DSP Studio > Output Format to a format you know your receiver accepts.

Thankyou, makes sense and works a treat. My faith in JRiver is restored  :)
