CD identification.
« on: August 01, 2012, 03:21:58 pm »

A heck of a lot of my CDs aren't recognised by the CD database. E.g., 'The Early Music Consort of London/Munrow, David:  Medieval Instruments of the Middle Ages and Renaissance'. A 2007 CD. Available on amazon.com, et al. Not recognised. Is there a way of transferring the information from the web to the media jukebox? Have I clicked something wrongly?

Just ripped twenty Hawkwind CDs to the jukebox. Of which 80% weren't recognised. A rather protracted session of filling in the details manually ensued.

I'd be grateful for any constructive advice/criticism.

No advice, eh? Indeed, not a sausage. It's a pain in the ring to manually input information for CD after CD after CD after CD.

Just ripped twenty-two gamelan CDs to the jukebox. None of which were recognised by the CD database. Converted some (music) files the other day. A fairly crappy free file converter identified albums that drew a total blank in the jukebox database. Is it possible to download a better database to be used in the jukebox's stead?

JRiver Media Center uses the YADB and freedb databases and can find more discs, but Media Jukebox is limited to YADB.

If you don't want to upgrade to MC and want to rip with MJ, you can add the missing tags with some tag editor. For example, the free Mp3tag program can access freedb and some other sources and tag already ripped albums.
