albums can you create or edit them?
« on: August 08, 2012, 10:59:20 am »

Hi Everybody,
I'm new to the software, if someone could help me with this question then I'd be very grateful:
The software recognises ripped cd albums without any problem, but is it possible to 'create' albums from files that have been converted from lps, cassettes or 78s....
I was using individual playlists to store these lp albums, but if it were possible for them to appear as albums, where I could add cover art, see a 3d view etc, then that would be great.
Sorry if this is a rudimentary question, I did have a good look to see if this was covered but couldn't find a solution.
Many thanks for any help that you can give,
Regards,

This is called tagging.
Almost all audio formats on a PC allows you to store descriptive information in the audio file like album, artist, track #, title, cover art, etc.

The only difference between a CD rip and a vinyl rip is that most CD ripping software do an automatic lookup using an internet database like FreeDB etc.

A simple one: in JRiver select the tracks belonging to the same LP and populate  Album and Artist manual.

In Tools > Library Tools try
-   Fill properties from filename if you do have meaningful file names
-   Fill Track numbers from List Order, might save you some typing too

An alternative is to use MP3Tag.
Select all the tracks and manually supply a title for the album.
As a lot of vinyl is also released on CD you might find the right album including the cover art.
Saves a lot of typing
