Windows 98 Memory Leakage - Should "DMA" be checked?
« on: April 25, 2002, 11:34:33 pm »

This message is also in reference to the current "TO:RAVMAN" thread.

There appears to be some confusion as to whether or not the "DMA" box for each CD player/burner should be checked or not.

Can anyone explain exactly what "DMA" is & how it works & if it was checked for each player/burner, would it perhaps assist with any memory leakage problems being experienced when using MJ under Windows 98?

Regards - Rusty.

Rusty,
For DMA, here are some search results:

Windows98 memory leaks can definitely cause problems.

Your problem might also be a driver problem.

Hi Rusty,
About a year ago I posted a thread about Windows 98/ME memory leaks.  I don't know where it is.
The best thing I can recommend is to get Rambooster (free) from the CNET.com download site.  It certanly fixed my problems.  It frees memeory that Windows does not.
Good Luck,
Murph
