Pre-amp bar in equalizer question
« on: August 17, 2012, 12:54:29 pm »

This may be obvious, but I couldn't find an answer: when I raise the pre amp slider in the eq, what am I actually doing? Am I increasing gain and how does that affect the digital signal I send to my dac? Am I increasing volume?

Just curious.

The digital signal to the DAC is higher causing an increase in the volume. If you do it too much, then you could cause the signal to clip. What problem are you trying to solve? There may be better solutions than using the preamp in Equalizer.

None, actually. I was just curious as to how it worked.
