Local Network Library server
« on: October 14, 2012, 01:55:51 am »

I have a local Network via a Netgear Router at home. I have my Library Server started on PC n.1 and I would  like to add network Library on PC n.2. I add service in the router opening as TCP/UDP the port 52199 for PC n.1 (192.168.1.30) and opening the firewall for this service. The key access on PC n.1 is [removed]. On PC n.2 I am using a 30 day free license of Media 18.
When I try to Load library on PC n.2, specifying the key [same access key removed] or 192.168.1.30:52199 I get after some seconds a crash error "Media 18 has an error and will be closed". I forgot to say that on both PC I have Windows XP Professional.
Where is the problem?
Thanks for your help, Marco Casini Italy

You can't mix MC17 and MC18 for this purpose.  You must run only one Media Server, not Media Server from both.

I did not mix MC17 abd MC18.... In the meantime I discovered the problem by myself: on the PC n. 1 it was Windows Firewall to block Media Server, I disabled it and on PC n. 2 it appeared immediately Netwok library! And it works fine.

I found easily why the firewall blocked the Media Server: in Windows Firewall it was MC17 enabled to pass and not MC18. Infact I changed from MC17 to MC18 two weeks ago.
