Gizmo connect problems
« on: September 09, 2012, 03:13:41 pm »

Hi folks!

I recently started to play a bit with Gizmo and other MC Media networks features.
It's generally working very well with the exception of Gizmo on my Droid phone.

The thing is that upon connecting, Gizmo attempts to connect to a variety of IPs, most of them being totally inexistent on my home network! Why is it so? Is there a way to instruct Gizmo to connect to a specific IP?

On a MC client running on another PC I can use the syntax IP:port and it works well why can't I on my Droid?

BTW WebGizmo is working fine on my iPad,

Thanks a lot far any help on the matter,

cheers,

Christian

There isn't a way to connect directly to an IP at this time. If you check
http://wr.jriver.com/[your access code]
you can see all of the IP's it will use to connect.

If you think it's off you could use "test connection to server" in the Media Network settings or "reset" the key to get a new one with current IP's.
Note that every interface on your PC will be sent whether they are active or not.

Thanks Bob,

In fact I was running MC17 on my mac in a parallels virtual machine using a shared network setting. Although I had forwarded the correct port (52199, etc.) from my mac to the VM, Gizmo would always pick the internal Parallel IP which is not visible on my LAN.
I switched my VM to bridged networking so that it picks a valid IP from my DHCP router and it worked!!
On top of that I had a couple of unused Virtual network interfaces (from a previous Vmware intsallation) that Gizmo also picked. I removed them.

Thanks for your explanation, the part saying that "every interface on my PC would be sent" actually sent me to the right direction.

Cheers,

Christian
