1. Changed: Increased the limit of text allowed to be placed on the clipboard in a copy from 2MB to 16MB.
2. Fixed: Video transcodes (DLNA, Gizmo, etc.) would fail to delete temporary output files.
3. Fixed: PAL DVD's played with wrong aspect ratio on Gizmo.
4. Changed: MCC 30002 (MCC_PLAY_TV) now requires a parameter to indicate the user-assigned channel-number.
5. Changed: Added bitdepth (bitsPerSample) to parameters parsed when connecting to a DLNA server.
6. New: DLNA: Aggregate DVD's (ifo) will follow conversion rules (previously they were never converted). This allows them to be played to Xbox360 (wmv) as well as incorporate subtitles to renderers that don't handle separate sub files (ie, WDTV, PS3).
7. Fixed: DLNA, some fixes to mimetypes presented to renderers. May allow more items to play with some renderers when conversion is off.

1. Fixed: In Options > Encoding, using 'Encoder settings...' could cause the encoder selection to be reset.
2. NEW: Secure ripping is faster when using certain drives that may read slowly to reduce noise.
3. Changed: Tuned secure ripping cache defeating mechanism to defeat up to 2MB of drive cache even if the drive cache could not be detected properly.
4. Fixed: Video conversion for DLNA could fail on certain aspect ratio videos when going to WMV.
5. Fixed: Transitioning from an 8-bit file to an 8-bit µ-law encoded file could cause audio to play incorrectly.
6. Fixed: If playback of a file errored, then the last file in the playlist was played, that file could show an incorrect warning when it finished.
7. NEW: Added native support for AU and SND files.
8. Fixed: If playback of a playlist encountered an input file with an audio format that was not supported, it could lead to a crash in certain cases.
9. Fixed: Hauppauge HVR-1600 was mistakenly included in the list of tuners that can not run analog and digital tuners simultaneously.
10. Fixed: Video conversion to MPEG-2 was not working in the last few builds.
11. Changed: Improved the picture quality of converted MPEG-4 video (used by DLNA, handheld upload, etc.).

5. Fixed: A seek or flush could cause the first subtitle to appear multiple times until the subtitle expired.

3. Fixed: Scrolling player display text had a question mark embedded, rather than a graphic dot character.
4. Fixed: Move/Rename operation would fail on video files which shared cover art in the same folder as the video files.
5. Fixed: Some DVD movies when played over DLNA or on Gizmo would skip over sections.
6. Fixed: wmv conversion. New libavformat and libavcodec (version 54). Works with Xbox 360 and subtitles.

2. Changed: Changed how JRiver URL Reader filter handle buffering by taking advantage of buffering info available in LAV splitter filter.  Should help YouTube
3. Fixed: Handheld sync with MTP devices was not working correctly because of a bug in creating the MC database on the device.
4. Changed: Camera acquisition from some device types (e.g. MTP) was dealing with images & videos anywhere on the device. Now it takes a user settable image source path defaulting to \DCIM\.

1. Changed: More internal threading changes in television playback engine.
2. Changed: Build 171 would unintentionally show frames on images in Theater View.
3. Fixed: List truncation tool tips would look incorrect with build 171.
4. Changed: Carnac wouldn't understand Sage TV recordings when the counter number in the filename used 8 digits.
5. Changed: Playing Now Overview uses columns instead of stacked rows to show each zone.
6. Fixed: Playing Now Overview would not update nicely when zones were added or removed while it was showing.

1. Fixed: Hulu playback was not working properly.
2. Fixed: Library-type search views were not working properly in Theater View (like the default Video > Guide > Search).
3. Changed: Clicking 'Save' in the image editor will apply and close any pending tool.
4. NEW: All thumbnail borders are drawn with skin items (that can be customized per skin).
5. Changed: Added 'Skip' cell drawing mode to skinning engine so a cell with no data (like the inside of a thumbnail frame) has no overhead (see Default Skin Items > main.xml > Border section for exmaples).
6. Changed: If thumbnail frames for images are disabled in Options, a drop shadow effect will be used in its place instead of the default thumbnail treatment.

1. Changed: When using the mixing mode 'Clone side channels to rear speakers', if there's a rear center it will be used for the clone (at half-power to each rear) instead of the surrounds.
2. Fixed: Parts of the program that used a wait message could take longer to finish than expected.
3. Changed: Thumbnail borders are rendered at draw time instead of loaded into the thumbnail at load time (allows for more consistent sizing and more flexible styles).
4. Changed: Tuned the thumbnail bordering to use a smaller, more subtle shadowing.
5. Fixed: 6.1 to 7.1 upmixing was not working properly for the rear speakers in some cases.
6. Changed: Added more logging of handheld calls to debug a rare crash that can occur when loading a handheld.
7. Fixed: Using a fadeout on stop would not work properly when Volume Protection was enabled.
8. Changed: Fadeout on stop applies the volume using the internal audio engine instead of the volume slider, so it works nicely with any output device.
9. NEW: Added fadeout on pause feature (configurable in Options > Audio).
10. Fixed: Improved remote button handling during Netflix movie playback.

Playing as normal and a dialog popped up - "You do not have permission to access the CD drive.  Make sure you have sufficient privileges" (or something similar).  I wasn't attempting to access the drive and there was no disc in it...

There is a bug, introduced in Version 17.0.185, with is still present on this Version.
It made the MC17 Media Server crash, as soon as i start to stream a DVD Video.
The DVD Streams are NSTC, with Region Code 2. There is no Copy Protection. But i presume, that doesn't matter.
It happened with all DVDs on my Hard Disc. The Video is never being converted, neither in audio, nor in video.
I used the 8Player for iPhone to stream.

I seem to have uncovered a bug in lav filter settings.  Since 17.0.184 I have been able to just install lav filters and modify add lav filter as my decoder. This is so I can use Yadif. However since 185 > I cannot update properties in the lav filter properties tab. However if I go back to 184 I can...  Any ideas?

My X-Box server/client seems to have some issues with 17.0.186.  Since the update, X-Box will playback movies but will not forward or rewind them.  In addition, the files (when played on the X-Box) appear to have no end time stamp (they now come with an end time of 00:00:00:00).

I don't recall the state of Particle robustness.  I created 4 particles from Disc 1, Season 1 of a previously ripped Mad Men Blu-ray.  Playback of the first particle works, but attempted playback of 2 - 4 immediately crash MC.  Is this a known problem?

I'm running version 17.0.186, but the "Changelog.txt" in C:\...\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 17\Plugins\lav tells me that I have LAV version 0.50.5? Shouldn't version 0.51.3 be included in MC 17.0.186?

The same happens to my second PC (also started with .182, I think). MC 17.0.186 has LAV 0.50.5 installed and removing the "lav" folder ends up with 0.50.5 being installed again.

An extra Video_TS directory is added automatically when updating the database to point to a new location.
What is odd is that that directory seems to be created even when cancelling the operation before going ahead with the update.
Also, it seems to occur either when you select all items (all items in N:\ for example) or perhaps it only occurs when the selected group includes ifo files among other types (iso, jpg, etc).

To reproduce:

Under ALL FILES, search for a drive letter (N:\ for example).
Select all.
Rename, Move & Copy Files, "update database to point to new location" and Find the drive letter (N:\) and replace with a different one.
You should see that some if not all of your IFO files will include an extra VIDEO_TS folder.
Cancel.
Double check some of those files. The extra VIDEO_TS folder may have been added to some of the files.

using volume leveling during sync to Ipod fails.
there is a distinctive difference in the volume between APE (ripped files) and mp3 (which are already normalized)

some related info:
sync to Ipod with dsp-studio volume leveling enabled (volume adjustment == 95%, "always convert" to mp3 (lame), vplume leveling parameters:fixed, 0.0db, clip protection, track based) with audio conversion without cache (and no stack files exist) and with cover art as-is.

all the files are audio-analyzed.  the APE files have a large negative value (which means that they should have their volume reduced on conversion)

note: this version is installed on a formatted computer (no previous MC versions were installed)

this is very important to me, please look into it

So MC17 recently updated itself.  Since then, just playing standard MKV's I've played dozens of times in the past causes MC17 to freeze up and become unresponsive.  If I try to pause or skip to another part of the video, it becomes unresponsive.  Sometimes I can wait it out (about 1-2 minutes), but most of the time it's the old ctrl-alt-del.  Not sure if others are having the same issue, but I figure I'd post it here.  I've also noted that on start, if nothing has been selected from the panel on the left, the main window is completely blank.  No more advertisement or whatever used to appear as a default.

OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Memory: 8GB RAM, meter never goes over 54%

trying to slide the volume by click&drag on the volume bar:
- moving the mouse left (decrease volume) works fine
- moving the mouse right (increase volume) is erratic (the bar and mouse pointer fight to stay where they are and moving right with a struggle)

I found how to disable it. now the volume can be increased/decreased but I have noticed that there is a lag between the volume actual change and the visual representation (the blue bar) change. this, I guess, should not happen on an i7 desktop system.  the lag is both for increase and decrease.

Were you able to find a solution to my volume leveling issue (while syncing with my Ipod classic)? it is mentioned above and also as a separate thread.

With internal volume, the delay will be directly related to the amount of primary buffering (set with Options > Audio > Output mode settings...).

I tried that. I want to clarify that the lag (between the arrow and the volume bar) is happening even without playing anything.
the bar has a lag with respect to the windows arrow (cursor). In fact the volume level (popup message) also isn't changing smoothly.

I just went in to Manage my Library Fields and for some reason Genre and keywords among others will not allow me to modify the Edit Type from Standards to List. I need to make Genre a list type to accept mulitple values, but everything is greyed out. Is this a new "feature"?

I created particles from BDs and MKVs and put them into a playlist. The BD based particles work everytime, but the mkv based particle fails when played within a playlist. On subsequent attempts to play the particle, playback starts from the beginning of the MKV file (i.e. the particle is ignored).
