Importing from HD Tracks to JRiver
« on: July 20, 2013, 10:35:13 am »

When I import an album into my JRiver account it appears as a list of singles instead of the album as a whole.  I am a new subscriber and appreciate any help.  Thanks.

The Album Artist tag must be the same for each track to show as one album.

More here, it is for prior version but still relevant.

Ken,
Is there a way of changing the tags to view as an album?
Thanks for your help,

Yes...

If you highlight all the tracks of the album and click Tag in the Action Window it will show you the tags associated with those tracks. If the Album Artist has Various next to it, manually type the Artist name. If the Album and Album Artist tags are the same for all the tracks it will show as one Album.

Ken,
The individual tracks are all tagged with the same Album and Artist name but still come up individually. I have not changed any setting since I downloading the program.
Just let you know, I have several Ablums that were imported correctly.

Did you use the Tag Action Window, or just look at the value you see for Artist in some other part of the view (such as a category)?

This is important - MC's use of Artist in some places really means Album Artist (auto), and from some views, you can't tell which you are using by quick inspection.

Use the Tag Action Window and check all three:

   Artist                       <-- check this
   Album Artist             <-- check this
Album Artist (auto)   <-- don't set this value

I'm using the Tag Action Window at the bottom left corner of the program. This window list has Name; Artist; Album; Genre;Track#,Bitrate;Filename and Playlist. I'm not seeing Album Artist or Album Artist(Auto).
The Artist and the Album are listed the same for all songs in this tag window.
Should I go some where else?
Thanks for your patients.

You can add new fields in the Tag Action Window.  Upper left corner, there is a pull down.  Select those from the Also show... sub-menu.
