This may be elementary, but can I/should I use MJ instead of the Nero (that came with my Yamaha burner) to compile playlists and burn them as well as copy and burn CDs?  

The ease with which I can create playlists with MJ is appealing.

Either one should work well.  I suggest trying both so you can decide which one suits you.

For audio stuff, you can use MJ especially if your database is in good shape. But Nero can do alot more (i.e. backup files, VCD authoring etc.) Maybe in a later version of MJ, one will be able to author VCDs and DVDs.

I love my MJ for organizing files, tags, compiling playlists, playing, etc, etc.

When I want to burn I export a playlist to .m3u, pick the .m3u up in Nero, burn the disk and print a label/cover/etc.

Nero's burn an print functions are more, um, full featured, and I like some of the capabilities not available in MJ.  JimH said it, try both and go with what works.

I'm impressed. The businessmen that have the gumption to either tell you you don't need that repair or gizmo or upgrade or to send you somewhere else if they can't provide what you need ALWAYS get my business. That's integrity at it's best.
