Hi Gang !

Currently using MC 17 and Folder option for my music. After a while from a fresh MC 17 installation track order in my music folders changes and tracks are shown incorrectly. Currently, the only solution is doing  a fresh installation. This also used to happen with MC 16 & MC 15...What am I doing wrong and how can I have a stable non changing track order in my music folders.. Many thanks in advance !

Can you clarify "Folder option"?   Is this a view you have, and you're viewing your music by Folders?  Or is this Explorer View?

The sort order of tracks is dictated by the view.  You can customize the sort order to sort as you need.  If you can provide some more details, we'll get your squared away.

Thanks MrC. I use the "File" option under "Audio" in MC17 to see and play my music. When I click on a music folder under the "File" menu it automatically goes to the ' playing now ' window on the right and all the tracks are shown.  From a fresh installation all is working fine regarding the track order. However, after a few days or so I start to notice the track order is changed for that same music folder (and others) etc...it doesn't display correctly. I try to play around with the 'sequence' but it never gets back to the correct track order.  Many thanks in advance..

MC uses a Default Sort order per media type, which is described here:

Add columns to show the 4 sort items (Album Artist (auto), Album, Disc #, Track #) and ensure that the fields are as you expect.

It has been noted over the past couple of years that sometimes when playing an album, tracks will populate Playing Now in a different order than shown in the file list.  Here is the problem description and some workarounds:

FYI: this issue should be fixed in an upcoming MC18 build.  Good reason to update.  :-)
