Can't install/upgrade Media Center
« on: September 27, 2012, 03:55:01 pm »

Hello,
I am having a problem installing and/or uprading Media Center. MC 17 tells me on every start there is a upgrad available but I cant install it. Everytime I try the setup.exe it hangs forever an nothing happens.
Today I tried deinstalling MC and install from scratch but the same problem occurs. Now I can't use MC at all. Any help is appreciated.

Finally I figured it out. I had to start MediaCenter170186.exe in Windows XP SP3-Compatibility Mode

But why? I mean MC is supposed to be a native Win7 application, right?

MC is developed on Win7 64 bit.  So that's not the problem.  Compatibility mode is not required.

There is no setup.exe.
