ASIO with multichannel FLAC
« on: October 15, 2012, 09:03:34 am »

Hi; I'm sure there is something simple I'm doing wrong here but...

My system has audio outputting through an ASUS Xonar D2 card (runnig the uni XOnar driver) to the analog 8 channel input of my amp.

With pretty much any video file, the audio path is correctly shown, with correct channels and unaffected, passing direct to soundcard.

However, with multichannel FLAC (ripped from my DVD-Audio discs), the audio is reported as 2 channel MP3 and outputted as such.

Is there anything I should be doing to check the set up..?

Many thanks,
Chris

Well, thanks for the flood of advice...  ;)

I thought I should just post the answer now I've figured it out...

I am streaming from a server installation, and the audio was set to convert to MP3. This was why my movie files were working perfectly but not the audio.

Anyway, changed the conversion to "none" and now all is fine..

Good on you for posting the answer even though you didn't get any help. May be of value to someone else later.

Cheers,
Rod
