how to avoid uninformative subject lines

How about something like this, in between the "Sign Out | Modify Profile | etc" line and the blue line underneath it:

Please provide a detailed subject when posting

Or perhaps it can go next to the subject field in the post-a-message page.

If you look at what is already there and then think about the questions that get posted, you'll understand why we haven't added anything more.
