MC18 & Cinavia
« on: October 28, 2012, 02:08:20 pm »

Since the latest Arcsoft TMT has implemented Cinavia parts of my online library fail to work.

I've been a loyal J River customer for years but only used it for audio until now. If I use MC 18 to playback my Blu-ray rips will Cinavia be introduced.

Do J River have any plans to introduce Cinavia.

Why can't the movie studios let legit users backup their own movies to a medium that is suitable for the customer. In the UK I believe it is now legal to backup music or movies for personal use as long as you own the original.

Cinavia is not part of MC and is unlikely to ever be as MC's BD support uses LAV Filters that in turn uses the open source development efforts of libbluray.

Thank you.

Think I will convert to MKV now rather than ISO.

Many store their online BD's as MKV, I just rip the BD structure to the HDD.

I realize that this thread is somewhat dated, but I just wanted to be sure that I'm clear on the fact that regarding Cinavia, it doesn't matter how the media is stored/containerized.

Perhaps weehappypixie has chosen to store as mkv to avoid the additional BR download for JRiver?

Yes, I now use mkv and m2ts main movie only with JRiver. If I wanna watch all the other stuff I stick the disk in. Have way to any movies to keep iso of everything.
