PS3 connection fails
« on: August 26, 2012, 12:11:36 pm »

For the life of me I cannot get my PS3 to see MC17. I can get my Android handheld to see MC17 and play media, but the PS3 can't see it at all. My Sony Bravia TV appears to see MC17 but says the server isn't there when I try and look at content. MC17 is a clean install, and I've followed all the threads I can find regarding DLNA, UPnP, turning off Windows firewall, etc. in the forums. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Try configuring the server and choosing PS3.  Make sure you have the latest build of MC.  It's 17.0.184.

Also remember with all Sony devices, you must access the type of media you are playing through the correct column on the crossbar (even though all media, audio, image and video will show up under each column).

I'm having a similar issue. In the past couple years I've used MC to stream to my PS3 but my PS3 cannot seem to find the Playstation 3 server from JR since moving a few months ago.

I've got the latest PS3 firmware and I'm running MC 17.0.189.

Although I've configured the Playstation 3 server template and have "Use Media Network to share..." enabled, I don't see any 'statistics' updating in the Media Network tab. I only see the "Device discovery server (SSDP)" statisic updates.

Is there something wrong on the server end? Do I need any ports to be forwarded (or specifically not forwarded)?

Thanks

Are they all on the same LAN segment?
Is one wired and the other wireless (in that case the router can block multicast packets, usually configurable)?
Firewall software on the PC, is there more than one firewall? Check to see if they are allowing MC though.
Disable all firewalls to test.
In the summary for all servers in MC's DLNA status screen, do you see "all running properly"?
