Automatic Display Settings ≠ 720p

I have Automatic Display Settings (Options/Video/Display Settings) working properly for the modes listed.  However, when I play a 720p (60fps) video, instead of getting that format, MC outputs 1080/24fps.  That's not what I want, but I don't see any option for any format other than what is listed.  What is supposed to happen when I play a 720p video?  Can I play it in that format and prevent 1080/24 mode with Automatic Display Settings enabled?  Is this a bug?  Thanks.
