Missing custom resolution

Under Playback Options > Video > Display Settings I normally enable "Automatic display settings changing". I have a custom resolution setup in my nvidia control panel that I use to view video at certain frame rates. MC doesn't show the custom resolution as an option even though it shows up in the windows display settings for the monitor. This is running on windows 8 and it is the same way for both MC17 and 18. It worked fine under windows 7.
