Mixing Stereo sources to 2.1 still outputs 8 channels
« on: November 04, 2012, 08:50:56 am »

Hi,

In my home theater zone, I've set output format to upmix everything to 7.1. I have ticked the box next to "For stereo sources, only mix to 2.1" because I like to listen to music in 2 channels. But my 2 channel music is still upmixed to 7.1, so it seems this function doesn't work. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

The way i understand it, it'll output 8 channels, but only the front channels (and the LFE) will actually have audio, all othe others will be silent.

Yeah, after doing some more listening, that seems to be the case. In the DSP popup box it says it converts 2 ch to 8 ch, and it says on the bottom outputting 8 ch. But it also says direct connection, so I guess that means it's bit perfect, right? I have subwoofer set to silent to be handled by bass management.

Thanks.
