JR 18 with Playback Designs MPS-5 Playing DSD DFS/DFF files
« on: November 15, 2012, 09:43:15 pm »

I have been using a Mac mini for some time playing DSD files and i thought i would give JR a try seeing my friends have been getting good results using JR 17 up-to 192/24.

I purchased a Intel Atom DN2800MT board with 8Gb Ram, installed trail version of Jr 18 with Playback designs akdesign usb audio drivers 1.1 for PC.

Selecting Audio output settings: Asio
Out put Mode: AKDesign USB ASIO
DSP & output format: No change (default)
Bitstreaming: Custom, DSD over PCM (Dop) DoP 1.0 (0xFA / 0x05)

Are there any other setting that need to change as i have flicked, ticked everything to try to get DSD to work.

when i select a DSD file to play i get the below massage:

Playback could not be started on the output using ASIO using format 176.4/24 2 channel.
the output format may not be supported by your hardware.
You can use DSP studio to change the output to a compatible format.
Also make sure that your system has a valid sound playback device and that it is properly configured in playback option.

Thanks

Welcome.

To bitstream DSD, with ASIO you pick 'DSD'.  With WASAPI - Event Style, you pick 'DoP'.
