Access Control - Reset Password
« on: November 24, 2012, 03:09:10 am »

How can I reset the password for access control? Please PM me if this is a secret.

I do not think I have set any password but now MC asks for one (I may have set a password at one point but in that case I have forgotten it).

An additional question: If I set access control on the media server, will the files be automatically hidden in any client that connects to the server, or will access control have to be set on each client?

I think you've found a bug.

I have no password set either and cannot get in.

Open your registry editor and go to: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 18\Properties"
There, you will find a setting called "AccessControlPassword"

Mine was empty. Entering a value in there allowed me access to my access control settings, where there is a "Change Password" button. From here, MC refuses to accept an empty password, insisting that something is entered.

In my experience, the access control filter needs to be applied on each client connecting to the server.

Thanks for the reply.

I think I have found a better solution for me: Just make and load a separate, tailor made library on the client that the children have access to.
