MC17 crashing when using exaSound e18
« on: November 24, 2012, 10:59:54 pm »

Don't know how many others will have the exaSound who may be able to help me out, but I'm having an issue where MC17 regularly crashes (audio disappears, video freezes, and application becomes completely unresponsive) randomly while playing a movie or a few tracks of music.  To get things working again I need to completely reboot my HTPC.  My setup is:

Asus P8Z68 MB
Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.1GHz (HD2000 iGPU @ 1.5GHz)
Sony internal BluRay drive
Win7 x64
exaSound e18 DAC (tried both the latest G3 drivers and the previous drivers - both had the same issue)
D-Link wireless USB adapter
InFocus IN76 projector 1920x1080i

Relevant MC settings:

ASIO output (no DSP, all settings based on source)
Red October HQ (also tried standard but had the same issues)
Adjust video clock to smooth image set to On
Allow display settings to be updated based on source

Everything else is default.  I previously had an Asus Xonar Essence ST with the H6 add on and that was running just fine under ASIO.  Short of doing a complete fresh install of Win7, I'm just about out of ideas.  Has anyone come across this, or can anyone point me in the direction of some things to try?

I have some experience with the e18, but never experienced anything like this:

It's telling that it hangs even while playing music, because the system isn't being taxed very much in that case.

You might try a different USB port or adapter.  Or add or remove a hub in the middle.

Tried a few different things and it appears to be working when the USB wireless adapter is disconnected.  Oh well, I'd been meaning to hard-wire my Internet connection for a while!  :P

Thanks for the tip!

Hi brendo,

We can troubleshoot the issue via remote desktop connection. You can send a support request from the exaSound website: http://www.exasound.com/Contact/ContactexaSound.aspx.
