I wrote a small tool to add imdb rating to JMC, it s time to share it to someone need.


Require .net framework 4.0 to run.
Choose movie folder and it will scan all movie file and sub dir.
Create custom field with name imdbrating  (tool->option-> library and folder)

Enable imdbrating field to show: As the image above: video=>file=> right click name field( above "taken" in my image) and it will let you choose which field to show.
Update library from tag
It only work with video files have IMDB ID filled with get movie and TV infor.
If you want to update live IMDB rate: run the tool and Update library from tag.

I have also  done the editing.
Where do I put this file-- in plugin folder or what?

works perfectly. Only one issue, not all my movies have sidecars, any way to force MC to create missing sidecars?

yes, you can run it everywhere.
jmc can automatic create sidecar when you import movie file but you can manual create it by right click one or all movie files and choose Get movie and tv infor

Updated 500 movies now. 100% success. Great job with the tool!

Cauadedanh, are there any way to automate this? Would it be possible to have this tool running as a service and looking for new folders that's added or something, and download ratings for those new movies?
And for JRiver part, are there ways of scheduling update library from tags? Or will this eventually trigger after a while?

I see my self running this tool for batch operations. But I will certainly miss these ratings for new movies added to the library.

If I have time, I will convert it  to jmc plugin so it will automatic create imdbrating field and can schedule update from tag, it takes my time to know how to write o plugin so I don't promise that  it comes soon

I was wondering if it would also be possible to add Metacritic ratings? IMDB actually contains these already, so I'm guessing it wouldn't be too much of a stretch. Any movie's Metacritic rating is at http://www.imdb.com/title/<IMDBID>/criticreviews

While IMDB user reviews are good, getting that one number metacritic rating would be awesome!

wow i dont pull directly from imdb site but 3rd imdb api and it does not provide metacritic rate so i make you disappointed ^^, if you know sites provide imdb api with metacritic rate, just tell me and i will add it.

I'm not a programmer at all, so I'm not sure this will help, but this project on github seems to have figured it out. Maybe it will lead you in the right direction?

Hi, first of all. Thanks for this great tool. Saves me a lot of time. But...
It worked fine until now. Everytime i setup a folder and start the tool,
 it adds imdb Rating to some movies and then crashes?.?
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
I made a screenshot when the tool crashed. Hope it helps because it's german.
Is this problem on the user (my) side, or could it be that it has a problem with an update of windows?
Or anything else???
It worked perfect two months ago.
My System:
Win 7 x64 (latest Updates installed)
