Situation: my dlna network to blu ray player does not show thumbnails of photos.  I have thousands of photos - while I can search folders by say, year, inside the folder the photo files are only an icon of a camera.  Without thumbnails I cannot see which photo to open. (I can open photos - just no idea what I am opening).

Q. Should I be able to see thumbnails of the images?  If so, what could I try?

My set up: windows 7; JRMP 18 networked to sony bdp-390 blu ray player (dlna settings in jriver set to sony bd profile); hdmi out of blu ray to TV.

Some units seem to have trouble with thumbnails.  I don't see them on this unit either, but I have not tried all the Tools > Options > Media Network > Add or configure DLNA servers... > Advanced settings either (as I suspect the unit is at fault).  Each thumbnail placeholder just says "Preview unavailable".

Thumbnails show up fine on other units we have.

Interestingly, I tried Windows Media Player - interestingly via dlna it shows thumnails no prob ...

Any ideas out there I could try to see thumbnails?  Or if I can't see them is it conclusive that MC can't produce them with my system?  In which case I could use WMP.

There are some Advanced options under Tools > Options > Media Network > Add or configure DLNA servers.  You could try some of these.  I haven't been able to find the right combo yet on my system.  You might have to wait until JRiver gets back into the office on Monday and their DLNA guy has further debug info.
