A sneak preview of the "Album View" plugin for MJ8
« on: April 13, 2002, 07:01:18 am »

I thought you guys might be interested in this album view plugin I've been developing for the past few days.

Personally I use MJ for playing albums only and this plugin is designed so I can see the artwork and tracks for an artist on one easy to use page.
Double clicking on an album will show the tracks and automatically play the album.

The treeview on the left shows which "complete" albums are in the database (a complete album is one that has the same external image for every track - internal images are not supported yet).

It also has a tracks detail view so you can see which albums still need to be tagged.
This list is also exportable.

The screenshots are big (around 200k each) as I work at 1280x1024:

The plugin will be free and I should have a usable version in the next day or so.

If you have any enhancements/questions then post a msg on this thread or drop me an email at jamie@jda-ltd.com

Cool! Great idea!

One thought though...don't forget to make the images automatically resizeable (percentable) so that they are not dependable of the view size... (one thing I miss with the track info pages...) Next Page

The images are only sizeable between small, medium, large, XL and XXL.   This sets the image width and I do a rough calculation to work out the height based on a 300x293 ratio.   For example small = 600 so the height of the image will be 586.

The thumbnails area will autofit the images based on the available width on the screen.

Nikolay,

Thanks for the offer Next Page

There's loads I could do with to help me and some issues I've hit (which I'm sure it's just down to my misunderstandings).

So shall we take this offline or shall I post my issues/questions here?

This looks awesome, and is a function that has been sadly missing from all media players to date. I very much look forward to trying it....how long until it's ready?

just yesterday i was thinking how great it would be if mj handled albums better and showed the images etc.. just like how you've done it.

Great Job. I can't wait to try it.

Rhino,

This is just what I would love to have.  I am always transfering my vinyl over to CD and then making *.wma's for MJ.  Would love to have the entire album (some day lyrics, too) on the computer.

I am a programmer, could you point me in the direction of the documentation that you worked with to set this view up.  I think I might like to tackle the lyrics view myself in the future (after the kitchen cabinets are done).

Blaine,

Use the interact/developers zone link on the menu.

Alternatively go here: http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/developers.html

Mind you I have had some thought on that myself.

In the album view tab where the track image is displayed, bottom right under the tab "External Image", I was thinking about adding a notes and lyrics tab there and as the track is played change these items accordingly.
