Single Click When Changing Track
« on: December 29, 2012, 10:42:19 am »

I sometimes get a single click when I change tracks. I am using memory playback mode and WASAPI Event Style but have only USB External Drives for storage.

Is there a setting I can tweak to remove this click. It's not really a problem. More of a minor irritation but I would still like to get rid of it if possible.

Thanks

Some USB DAC's make a noise when they change sample rate.  Resampling everything might work.

Also try adjusting the buffer size up or down.

Thanks Jim. I reduced the default buffer size from 1000 to 500 and this has certainly improved the situation. I clicked from album to album for about 10 minutes and only managed one click.

I don't know if it's me but the sound seems more open with a reduced buffer size. Am I hearing things? Could you please explain the theory on buffer sizes and their impact on sound quality?

Thanks and best wishes for 2013

Try 100 or 50 ms.
