Problem I had above went away. Can't duplicate, so must not have been MJ problem.

Also cannot get machine to crash with ZRockers problem. 98 SE works fine here.

Mat|PLS|M,
Unfortunately, all links go to the latest Beta available. This one is more unstable than previous Betas but what you describe sounds like 8.0.246. Are you sure you have 8.0.248? "Help"-"About Media Jukebox" should tell you the version you have.
If you do and it's still unstable, be patient and go forward, not backward. They will fix the problems and end up with a better product.
Hint: Wait for a couple of hours before downloading the latest Beta so you can read the comments. If it's better or worse, you'll find out from other's experiences. If I had done that, I wouldn't have downloaded 8.0.246.

1. Minimizing the CD Copy window also minimizes the whole MJ application.

2. The min and max buttons do not remain visible as the MJ window is moved.

3. If I change the artist tag info on all the tracks in an album, the tree does not refresh to reflect those changes.  For example if I'm viewing files by Artist/Album and correct a typo in the artist's name, upon saving the changes, the previously incorrect artist's name is still displayed.

These two are still there:

- Play/Pause key on Natural Keyboard Pro now no longer opens an Explorer window but instead the keyboard driver's dialog to change the function assigned to the key appears (if MJ is a background app).

- In "mini-me" mode with winamp skins the playlist font is much to small (unreadable) on my machine (1600x1200 with large fonts setting).

Download Manager Bugs:
1. New Auto-Import feature doesn't always work (sometimes imports/sometimes not)...and no way to disable.
2. The DM option 'Play Downloaded' doesn't work anymore...that was a nice feature.

This still happens, though less often:

- when bringing other windows to front that overlap the MJ window, their contents sometimes is not redrawn correctly.

Not sure if this is specific to my situation (trying to install new 8.0 license and get major failures), but I noticed the latest build (I assume 248, because it was downloaded from the link in this thread) installs with the right window dragged over on top of the left (tree) one. No biggie, because I can just drag it back over...but somebody who has never used MJ before might not know there's something under it.

Was this because of how you had MJ setup prior to update? Or windowed view selected? Just wondering, have not had this happen yet.

No, the windowing problem happened when I downloaded and clean-installed yesterday (removed MJ first via Control Panel). But I'm having mucho other problems that I think are related to getting this license activation thing done...so far, no success.

Requests:

1. When selecting ripping options, it would be convenient if tag info could be manually edited at this point.
2. Following downloading (or not) of coverart, it would be nice to have a message box indicating if the image was found. Unless I'm missing something, the success of the image download can only be determined by entering file properties of the newly ripped file.

Thanks,
Shelly

Just another thought on my request #2 above, regarding the addition of a message box for image downloading.  It would be great, if the user was presented with the option to accept or reject the image that was found.

My request #1 above can be scratched! I just found out, by accident, how to edit properties prior to ripping and it's so very easy.

Thanks all

Am I the only one who is being prompted by CDDB even though I have unchecked the option to use it in SETTINGS ?  Also, clicking Cancel when the CDDB option starts doesn't get you back to MJ ... only a ctrl-alt-del will do that

Bugs:
1. Sometimes doing Alt|PLS|Enter to bring up Media File Props ignores what you have selected and brings up all files in the currently viewed playlist.  I noticed this many times while editing files in Recently Imported (also had DM downloading in the background...part of that time only).

2. If the DM's "Play Downloaded" option is turned on (using DM v1.0.97 now) and you are downloading and you also decide to in-place edit some [other] tracks in the Playing Now playlist, a couple of things happen:  1) the current selections are lost if you are editing while a newly downloaded track is added by DM and 2) the Playing Now playlist window is not updated correctly to reflect your in-place edit changes (if you use the up/down arrows to highlight each edited track (or press F5 Refresh), each item is updated correctly [visually]).

3. That pesky "Analyzing Devices..." dialog keeps popping up way to much during right-clicks and cancelling the right-clicks.  If it can't be fixed, can we at least get an option to disable automatic 'Analyzing Devices' and let the user manually analyze/refresh devices??  It seems some 'Send To...' tweak a few releases back started this annoying problem...

Download Manager : I have DM set to autostart with Windows (minimized) and everytime I boot, I get a message about "The system cannot find the phonebook entry for the connection specified" - or something to that effect.

Download Manager : This still occasionally just shuts down for no reason, without any indication other than when I move my mouse over the icon in the system tray and it just vanishes.

ZRocker reported "Clicking library manager> Backup option immediately crashes MJ."
It just disappears and I am back to the desktop.

Callithumpian reported the same problem.

I have the same problem as well with Windows ME.

JimH and all: I am continually amazed at the new discoveries I make in MJ. Saying I am impressed is a great understatement. And thanks to all the guys on Interact for the help they have given to others which I have benefited from.

Don't know if this has been reported yet. Drag the icon toolbar below the other and it isn't redrawn correctly. I know this is probably a skinning issue. Just mentioning.

I just read the thread about getting 8.0.246 when you click on the link at the top of this (8.0.248) thread. Can this be true? I just followed the advice to change the filename on Save As to MediaJukebox8.0.248.exe and got a file by that name.

I'm wondering how many people have .246 and think they have .248. I'm also wondering if this is why my MJ8 will NOT uninstall.

After I restore to an earlier Ghost, I'm going to try reinstalling with this new .exe.

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned .....

In CD Labels, I've opened a cover art cd label into the cd front cover from the JRiver library having copied it previously from the net. If I preview, for instance, the front cd cover, it looks ok and is showing the cover art picture. However, if I then print it, all I get is the cutting lines ie the picture has disappeared. Any help please ..... thanks

Jim

Another Crash MJ Bug:
1. MJ crashes (disappears) when building a Data CD burn list and clicking Options > Save Folder Scheme or Load Folder Scheme.  No error info (using Win2k Pro w/SP1)...MJ just exits abnormally.  This is the same type of crashing I've reported earlier in this thread.

Bug:
1. If you are using the Disk Writer playback setting and a track's Artist or Song Name has an invalid character in it for a filename (like ?), DW does not output a .WAV file for that track.  The user is not given any kind of error message either.  I think MJ should just convert the invalid character(s) to '_' like it does in other instances.

When using a sound card with no volume control, MJ hides Player_SliderVolThumb.bmp. Should also hide Player_SliderVol.bmp as it just looks weird.

A bug I noticed in 239. Most likely in this build also:

Did a clean install of WinME. Updated Sound card drivers. Installed 239. Used default settings. Played some mp3s from explorer (auto imported; correctly). Decided to import all the mp3s in the same folder. When it was finished, all the new mp3s that were imported had (unassigned) values. Deleted all files in media library, reimported (same way). Everything was back to normal. Something is screwed up here.

Bugs (I think):
1. When using drag-n-drop to move/copy files from the Content view (right-side) to any nodes in the Org Tree (left-side), the destination node in the Org Tree does not highlight when you hover the drag list over the destined node (like Windows Explorer and good GUIs do).  This makes it hard to know if the destined node accepts the the drop or not.
2. When starting a drag-n-drop operation, pressing ESC does not cancel the operation (again, like Windows Explorer and good GUIs do).  So, you are committed to droping the list somewhere once you start the drag.
