So I am trying to watch a foreign film on an OPPO BDP93 which is a media player and not renderer, thus I pull video from media centre 18 from the OPPO and do not push it from media centre to the OPPO. Media Centre is running as can be seen above on a HP Notebook and the library is located on a NAS drive and accessed via a share. Medi Centre 18 is the Media Software and I am not using NDLA on the NAS.
I have no other issues with watching video in this manner except for this subtitles issue ( I have the Swedish version of the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to watch" and I am English speaking
)
My General Video settings under subtitles and language are as follows:
Subtitle mode: Show subtitles only if selected language is different from audio language or if subtitles are in a side care file. (I have tried always show subtitles as well)
Default subtitle language and audio language : English
Under Options Media Network, add or configure DNLA servers:
Under Advanced I have checked the following for my named DNLA server (I use generic but use the display name as JRiver)
1) DNLA
2) DNLA Extra
3) Include Session ID
4) Present Caption Resources
5) Present Subtitle Resources
I have seen the notes recommending transcoding etc
My settings now are as follows:
Audio, never convert and uncompressed for the encoder.
Video, never convert and encoder is sitting on AVI high bandwidth stream
With Video I have tried the "Always Convert" option as suggested here and tried the following encoders
MPEG2/DVD/PAL with Mpeg2 audio (we are PAL and not NTSC in South Africa)
When I go to play the movie on the OPPO it is now displayed as type MPEG but will not play, I get a file not supported error on the OPPO. Note the OPPO manual states that MPEG is supported over DNLA
I have also tried MPEG2\DVD PAL stream with the same result as above.
I have also tried MPEG2 low band width also with the same result and I have tried one of the AVI formats as well and all fail.
Looking at the folder on the NAS where the movie files lay we have the following files if it helps at all
Movie_name.mp4
Movie_name_mp4_JRSidecar.xml
(Note please substitute movie name for the Swedish title of the movie, I just could not type it all out.
