Channels mixed up with ASIO
« on: January 03, 2013, 06:30:28 pm »

Reinstalled htpc, windows 7 64-bit (as before).

This time though I chose ASIO instead of Wasapi event style. I have a Asus Xonar Essence ST and HDAV expansion board for 7.1 analog output, using the latest drivers.

The test in the driver control panel works on all channels properly.

When I choose ASIO in Media Center, the center channel comes from left surround, front channels don't do anything (or go to the subchannel?) and everything else is going where it should not go, its a mess.

I select Wasapi event style, its all good.

Any ideas what could be going on?

There's not a standard channel order when using ASIO.

Just use an 'Order channels' filter in Parametric Equalizer to get things in the right spot.

Thanks Matt, I wasn't aware of that.

The drivers for the Essence also allow you to do a channel swap. I think that took care of the issue for me.

I don't think this is what you mean but it did point me look at it again. I just noticed Channel Swap under Output Mode Settings in MC says Swap C/LFE to LS/RS for 5.1 and 7.1. I always asumed that was the same as the channel swap in the regular Xonar Control Panel, ie C with LFE swap but I never read it correctly.

That option does exactly what I need :).

Thanks, I can remove the PEQ channel order and use that.
