Lost cover art on upgrade?
« on: January 05, 2013, 07:29:09 pm »

I use MC to download, save, and tag album cover art for my discs. When I upgraded from MC 16 to 17 I lost a lot of my albums cover art.  So I retagged and reorganized all my music folders - cover art and all.

Last night I upgraded from MC17 to MC18. Not because I needed to, but because I want to support Matt, Jim, and all else who make this the best media player out there. But again I find that I'm missing cover art for a lot of my albums.  It does not just happen when I upgrade from one major build to the next, but even from incremental upgrades as well. Like I said, I use MC to download and tag the album art. So why does this continue to happen?

Trying to download and/or load my cover art now. Now MC apparently will not attach any cover art, neither already saved in the folder or downloaded thru MC's internet tagging.

Bummer dude.

I don't understand this. I upgraded to MC18 from 17 with no hassles in the art department that I've noticed.

I default to FLAC for audio format and the art is embedded within the file. Are you opting for a non-embedded art option? Is that the difference?

If the worst did happen, then I'd restore the library from the NAS.

Hope you sort it out soon.

Hi Jim. No. I kept MC17 when I installed MC18. Honestly, I can't remember if I lost the cover art before or after I deleted MC17 after MC18 was installed. Is downloading and tagging part of a unique build? And not transferrable automatically among upgrades? I thought tagging was tagging - embedded into the file or saved in the folder. And any thoughts why MC wont allow me to attach a cover art picture at this point?

I don't know what's happening for you.  Sorry.  Cover art can be in the file or in a folder.  Thumbnails would need to be rebuilt.

Hmmm... Thanks Jim. I had forgot about the "Rebuild Thumbnails" option.  :)

OK, no harm done as the thumbnails are apparently still there. Weird, though.
