LAV and Madvr questions.
« on: January 23, 2013, 03:08:08 pm »

If I want to decode DTS HD Master with LAV audio decoder using the dtsdecoder.dll from Arcsoft, do I then have to install LAV or is there some way I can put the dtsdecoder.dll inside J Rivers installation folder? If I install LAV filters and put the dtsdecoder.dll inside the LAV audio folder, will DTS HD Master also be decoded in ROHQ mode?

And if I want to update LAV filters or Madvr, how di I do that?

JRiver usually updates to the latest LAV and madVR build with the weekly-ish public build at the tip of this board. Sometimes the LAV and madVR builds include updates that allow JRiver to fix certain issues.

You can select Tools > Options > Video > Video Mode > Advanced > Custom and then "Custom video mode settings" appears. This allows you to use manual installations of codecs and renderers.

I see that LAV filters has been updated in v18.0.120. Are we on the latest version of MadVR?

I think there are some changes to MadVR that JR is working to integrate to resolve a crash issue.

FYI - Matt, nevcairial (LAV filers) and madshi (madVR) all work really well cooperatively.  For example you can see in the latest release notes for madVR that madshi added a change for MC after discussions with Matt and as a result Matt is making changes to MC (and around it goes).  The result is that the Versions of LAV and madVR that are auto used as a part of RO / ROHQ are normally the most up to date but you may see a delay in the version if there are changes that require updates to MC.

madVR is at 85.8 on the Doom9 forum. Where is the MC version at? I think we're a few releases behind and there have been some significant improvements to madVR (sorry I don't have access to MC right now to check).

Its unsupported but you can try. I've had mixed results myself doing that.
