We're spending some time tuning performance on Mac.
The program is built from the same code on both platforms, so we are hoping for the same
great performance.
Today was the first day we tested this hope.
We're testing using a Mac Mini 2012 quad-core. To measure performance, we're using JRMark (the benchmark built into Media Center). You can see how Windows machines score here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=54396.0The day started with a 24 JRMark image score and 540 overall -- not good. But some quick work on the core multi-threading system, memory allocator, and SSE assembly brought things into line.
We're now seeing a 2757 JRMark, which is close to what the machine would get on Windows.
